Did I Have A Miscarriage?

Hi I am between 5-8 wks pregnant and my OBYGN has put me on utrogestan and ectorin . I have been drinking this for 10 days now and have had pinkish discharge in between I think from implantation. But today I had a trickle or very red blood bleeding for less then a minute and then it stopped. I have had a previous miscarriage at 4 months and am just scared that I could misscaring again due to the deep red bleeding I had today. I called my OBYGN and am booked for an appointment on Thursday. .. Please advice ,am going made googling is leading to different opinons some sites say it s dangerous to drink the medication I am on during pregnancy.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hallow Dear,

I empathize your situation and apprehension.

Any bleeding after the pregnancy diagnosis confirmation should be taken seriously. It may be some sort of abortion like threatened abortion, incomplete abortion or complete abortion. From your history, it appears to be Threatened abortion. Ultrasonography will clinch the diagnosis. If heart activity of the baby is perceived, it is threatened abortion else it is missed abortion. Missed abortion should be terminated ASAP.

If you are having Threatened abortion, please restrict yourself to the bed. Take daily Folic acid tablets. Take sanitary napkins and observe them for any white tissue on them before disposal. If white tissue is seen, it denotes that the baby has started getting expelled out (incomplete abortion) and you need termination of pregnancy ASAP. Usually Threatened abortion with colicky pain in lower abdomen suggests that this pregnancy cannot be salvaged.

Before you visit Ob-Gyn, you may go for ultrasonography to save the time.

I hope this helps you.
