Diagonised With Systemic Lupus

My sister has been diagnosed with systemic lupus for 12 years. She is beginning to get convergence insufficiency and her doctor wants her to get an MRI with and without contrast of the dorsal mid brain region. She has an MRI in the past that showed excessive white matter in the upper part of the brain. Can white matter changes from lupus cause this diagnosis?
