Diagnosed With Urinary Retention, Constipation. Have Cyst. Are These Related?

Hello, I have been recently diagnosed with urinary retention. I am unable to completely empty my bladder. I also have been constipated. I have been to the ER, urologist, and obgyn. They discovered a large cyst (orange size) and some of them said that it might be the cause of my bladder/bowel retention. Is this possible?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Any mass that obstructs the passage of urine or stool can result in urinary retention and constipation.'

IF the cyst that was found is in an area where is can prevent bladder or anal emptying then it could contribute to your symptoms.

The cyst would likely have to be removed surgically. You should consider speaking to your GP to determine which surgical team you need to be referred to.

I hope this helps
