Delay In Periods. Negative Pregnancy Tests. Can I Take Positinor, Will This Further Delay Periods?

My previous period started on 13th while the last period started on 14th of last month. Today is 15th and my period has no come. I did pregnancy test and it turned out to be negative. Again I had Unprotected sex on 13th (2 days ago) and I don't know if I can take postinor 2 to prevent pregnancy. Will the use of the postinor not cause futher delay in my period?

Hi dear,

Thanks for your query.

Firstly, its not unusual for the periods to come 1-2 days earlier of later. So, there is no need to worry.

However, let me tell you that pregnancy can occur ONLY during 3-4 days of the cycle. In a female with REGULAR PERIODS, ovulation(that is, release of ova from ovaries into the uterus, where it survives for up to 48 hours only. if it doesn't get fertilized, it dies) takes place roughly on Day 14 of the last period. That's the reason the duration between roughly Day 12 to Day 16 is called UNSAFE PERIOD

Hence, unprotected sex on Day 28-29 will NOT cause pregnancy. NO REQUIREMENT OF POSTINOR.
