Deep, Swollen Sore In Jaw Below Tooth Bottom With Severe Pain. No Help From Mouthwash And Salt Water. Help

I read on this site that you can't have a cankor sore on your jaw, however that is where I have a very deep swollen sore on my inside jaw just below my last tooth bottom. I have never smoked nor drink and I am 55yr female. I have had it for 2 months and the pain is getting unbearable. I have done the miracle mouthwash as well as salt water. No luck so far. Thank you greatly.

hi...
thanks for the query...
i think you should go for proper clinical and radiographic examination... visit your dentist to explore its cause...
don't use any mouth wash for time being... just apply local anesthetic gel over the area...
also take vitamin B-complex... avoid hot and spicy foods...
hope it will help you...
take care...

Dentist Dr. Qazi Ammara's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Canker sore occurs due to physical and chemical trauma, as you mentioned it is below the bottom tooth can also be an sinus opening.
A thorough clinical examination by the Dentist is required, take an x-ray of the affected region.
Start with the course of antibiotics and analgesics under prescription of your Dentist.
Apply Dologel oral ointment topically over the affected area.
Start with multivitamin suplements.
At home take antiseptic mouthwash and lukewarm saline rinses.

Hope this helps out,

Regards...

Dentist Dr. Bindiya Bhaskar's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

The sore developed may be due to-periodontal infection/deep caries/ulceration due to vitamin deficiencies, traumatic injury etc.

I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical evaluation as well as x-ray investigation by a dentist.

Pus has to be drained and curetted .
Root canal treatment has to be done if necessary.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Take vitamin becosules as well as iron supplements.

Hope this helps.

Dentist Dr. Souranjita Chattopadhyaya's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for choosing HCM,

From the symptoms you have mentioned I feel the swelling has been developed on the bottom of your last tooth due to an abscess...

Either your tooth is having deep carious involvement and the infection has reached towards the end of your tooth resulted in pus formation or it may be due to periodontal infection...

Consult with Dentist for clinical evaluation..and treatment plan will be decided on the basis of that..

Proper x-ray is required for that tooth...

You can take warm saline rinses 3-4times/day...

Keep that area clean...

Get well soon...
