Could White Puss From Nostril And Soreness Be Related To MRSA?
My husband blew his nose and expelled a white puss from his nostril. Soreness is present. He has had a recurring MRSA infection that seemed to be gone for months, but I wondered if this could be related since MRSA is colonized in the nose or if there is another likely cause.
Hello, MRSA is a methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus bacterial infection which is resistant to Beta lactam antibiotic. This is highly contagious in nature and can cause life threatening complications. Your husband is a carrier of infection and can transmit it to others through his nose. As recurrent infection already occur in your husband so there is a chance of such symptoms by the same. MRSA occur mostly in immune compromised individuals so, some investigations needed like blood glucose estimation , ELISA test for HIV AND HBV& HCV infection as well as sputum culture & sensitivity, total blood count. Consult a physician for proper treatment in his/ her guidance. Thank you for consulting HCM,
