Could The Rash On The Chest Above The Breast Be Due To Stress?

I am a 73yr old female taking no prescription medicines, active and in good health. 3 weeks ago, a rash started on my chest just above my breast and left to right. As the days went by, the rash traveled upward. It is now about 3 inches high and goes all the way around my neck, with the bask of the neck being a 1/2 inch width. I have a dermatologist but have been away from CO visiting daughter and family in DE. Could it be from stress or should I seek medical treatment? I have had the Shingles vaccine about 3 yrs ago. Just using Eucerin during the last week to help with the itching and soreness. Thank you for your help. I was surprised to find this assistance as I just searched for probable causes. Ellen Redding I will make an apt with my Dermatoligist, since I did not realize there was a cost for advice. thank you for your time. Ellen Redding

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It doesn’t seem to be related to shingles or stress. It could be an eczematous rash. I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily and take anti-histaminic like tablet chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
