Could The Missed Periods Be Due To Ectopic Pregnancy?

Hi there, Just a quick question. My period is late about 8 days. I am normally very regular - 27/28 days. Our family moved to China over a month ago. Had my period a few days after arrival. I had an intercourse with my husband on cd17, the condom slipped as he took it. Anyway, I took two pregnancy tests on cd28/31/33 and they all came out negative. I have had a pretty strong pain in the left side of my abdoment cd30-32 along with some breast pain cd 28-32. Kind of similar when I ovulate/before my period. Could I have missed my period (I just had a short whcm on cd20) or could I have an ectopic pregnancy. Seeing a gyno is kind of difficult as we re in an remote area far from any Western hospitals and my Chinese is not that great to communicate with a doctor.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If your period is delayed for a week (as per history) then check pregnancy by urine HCG card test only after a week of delayed period. In ectopic pregnancy also HCG test will be positive. So don't worry and test with urine HCG card test after one week of delayed period.

Take care
Hope this will help you
For further work up transvaginal USG scan can be planned.
Consult gynecologist for examination
