Could The Burning In The Chest And Back With Nausea Be Due To GERD Or Gall Bladder?

Hello. I have been having burning in my chest and back of my throat lately. Also what feels like my heart beating in my throat, I then cough and belch and it eases off. (My face flushes and I get very anxious) I have nausea also. I was on prilosec for the last 14 years but it seems to have quite working. So I am now taking zantac 150mg bid and gas x tid. These things only help for a few hours. Not sure if this could be gerd or gallbladder or what?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
You symptoms of pain in chest, back of throat and feeling heartbeats in the throat is indicative of GERD although you have taken Prilosec for a long time and now you are taking Ranitidine.
I would advise you the following:
First of all consult your Doctor and get a reference for a Gastroenterologist for upper GI Endoscopy and Barium swallow studies.
Also needed is ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
This will give us added information as your are not getting relief.
The reports will help us to have a plan for further treatment.
Have small frequent meals of soft bland diet.
8 hours sound sleep.
No stress and/or anxiety. Get treated properly with medication if you have it.
I find this answer helpful
