Could Spotting Be The Side Effect Of Treatment For Yeast Infection?

I had a yeast Infection caused by antibiotics (Cephalexin 500 MG Capsule), because of this I was prescribed Fluconazole oral 200 MG Tablet. I took the tablet yesterday and now it seems I m spotting? I had my period at the beginning of this month. Is this a side effect I should be worried about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

These medications as such do not cause spotting. However, the stress of infection and new medications can cause such memstrual irregularities including spotting. Such menstrual irregularities will eventually subside on its own.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
