Could Loss Of Hearing After Taking Ciprodex For Sinus Problems Be Permanent?

Hi Dr Bhatti.
I have unilateral vestibular disorder and have lost 78% of my balance on my left side. I went to a doctor yesterday for a sore throat, sore ear and sinus problems. He prescribed me Ciprodex. I used it once last night (4 drops in each ear) and woke up and put 4 more drops in this morning. Immediately after, I could no longer hear out of my left ear and my right one is muffled. Pharmacist said to stop taking and go back to doctor. Have I lost my hearing permanently? This is pretty scary.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, this is not the hearing loss but this could be due to either impaction of wax or may be because of Eustachian tube block this some time disturb the hearing and this is partial condition and will come around with conservative managements, ear drop nothing to take with it, this includes ant-histamine steam inhalation, for the wax impaction if it is there then this should be removed, this is not the permanent hearing loss, no need to worry about this, hope this information helps you
