Could It Be Signs Of A Brain Injury With Fever And Inactivenes After A Head Injury?

My 17mnth old son fell of the bed six days ago and hit the back of his head and arm on a carpeted floor. He cried for a few minutes but was good after. the next day he was playing and smiling and doing the normal stuff such as climbing , dragging stuff around etc The next morning he had a fever of 100.2 that lasted for 2 days and thereafter he was okay. He has not been vomiting or overly sleeping, bleeding , bruising or showing any visible signs of injury. What I did notice was that he has been getting up crying in the night and we will have to hold him to calm him down or give him his bottle. Also when I pick him up from nursery at 5pm in the last two days and take him home, he now doesnt play as much and wants to go to sleep. Could it be signs of a brain injury?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the symptoms in your toddler.

First of all, I would like to reassure you that the symptoms do not suggest any internal brain injury in his case.

The symptoms are most likely due to viral fever or viral upper respiratory infection. This would resolve on own with symptomatic treatment in a few days.

Please keep a watch on symptoms such as drowsiness, fits, decreased movements of one arm or leg, etc. If any of those develop, a CT scan may be done to look for any internal brain injury.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
