Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
It is my pleasure to help you.
Shingles is caused by herpes simplex virus type 3.
Genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus type 2
Type 2 cause a painful blister type rash with a red base that evolves into an ulceration.
Shingles causes a blister type rash but usually only on one side and usually extends along the thigh , leg or abdomen (along the distribution of nerve).
Shingles usually occurs only once and the rash appears in a dermatome (course of a nerve) like along an arm, a side of a face
As your lab findings are suggesting of Genital Herpes and those with frequent recurrences will benefit from antiviral medications.
People who have frequent or severe recurrences of genital herpes may choose to continue taking antiviral medications to reduce the frequency and severity of recurrences.
The antiviral drugs can be taken after consulting your doctor and getting the prescription from him.
Hope I have answered your query. Looking forward for the queries.
Thank you.
