Could Bleeding During Menopause Be Due To Lack Of Hormone Therapy?

I am almost 50 years old. My periods stopped almost 2 years ago. But it started up again almost 6 weeks ago and hasn't stopped. It is sometimes heavy, sometimes light. I had been on hormone therapy for several months but I stopped it in early February. Could this be why? Also I was just tested last week and my doctor told me I am NOT post-menapausal. So why would my periods stop??
