Constipated Child. Using Miralax. Given Apple Juice And Prune. Anything Else?

My granddaughter is almost four and she is potty trained except for when she is constipated, The doctor
suggested using Muralax which we use everyday. She is an excellent eater, drinks a lot, and is active. We are adding prune and apple juices is her diet starting today and more fiber. Do you have any additional suggestions. Thank you.

Welcome to HealthCare Magic

Hope you are doing good. Constipation is common in children and is usually without long-term consequences.Constipation is treated by changing diet, taking laxatives, and adopting healthy bowel habits. Treatment depends on the child's age and the severity of the problem. Dietary changes include eating more high-fiber foods, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Laxatives are frequently used to clear a fecal impaction and sometimes to restore regular bowel movements. A doctor should be consulted before giving a laxative to a child.
Here are few things which i would like to add.

A stool softener, also known as a laxative, to clear the bowels.

A high-fiber diet with plenty of fluids. This means loading your grand child plate with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, high-fiber cereals, whole grain breads (look for at least 3-5 grams of fiber per serving), and a variety of beans and other legumes, like chickpeas and lentils. Two good sources of fiber that kids are often happy to eat are trail mix (let them make their own) and popcorn with minimal salt or butter. Foods containing probiotics, like yogurt, can also promote good digestive health.

Regular toilet time. Encourage your grand child to use the toilet first thing in the morning and after every meal or snack.

Give your child more fluids. ( Apple juice , Prune Juice , Honey and Lemon Water , Strawberries and Watermelon )

Make sure kids get enough exercise. Physical activity nudges the bowels into action, so encourage your kids to get plenty of exercise. It can be as simple as playing catch, riding bikes, or shooting a few hoops.

Develop a regular meal schedule. Since eating is a natural stimulant for the bowels, regular meals may help kids develop routine bowel habits.

High Fiber diet.

I hope have answered your query. feel free to ask if you have any query. wish your grand child good health. regards
