Constant Coughing, Have Couhging Attacks Coming From Deep In The Chest With Bad Tasting Flem. Chest X Rays Showed Nothing. What It Could Be?

I have been coughing for 3months now or longer, although not constent but often throughout the day I wil have couhging attacks coming from deep in the chest with bad tasting flem. This cough is not worse at any paticular time of day or night either. I have had chest exrays twice now with nothing to show. Not sure what it could be, any suggestions?

Hi,

Your chest x ray being normal could most likely rule out certain infections and other conditions. Cough could also be due to acid reflux (which could explain the bad taste during the cough) or could also be due to allergy. If it is allergy you need to be tested and treated appropriately. For conditions such as reflux, you could try using the following treatment. Take Tab. Rabeprazole once a day for two weeks; eat light meals during night keeping a gap of at least two hours after food to lying down to sleep.
