I m 50 year old female, very over weight, type 2 diabetes, B12 deficiency, fibromyalgia to mention a few. My GP says that if I managed to lose a few stone in weight that all my pain will disappear ! Fibromyalgia was only diagnosed a few months ago although I have had the symptoms for a good couple of years, the worse part of it is the fatigue and all over aches and pains. Was first told it was ME but after having a full body bone scan and given the all clear on that by a rheumatologist, he sent me to the chronic. Pain clinic who diagnosed the FM. Have tried Pregabalin for a few months, increasing the dosage but that had no effect and my feet swelled up, so have been put on Gabapentin, only for two weeks so am not feeling any benefit at the moment. I work as a home carer so am on the go all the time whilst at work, but have had to drastically cut down my hours recently and dread taking on new service users for fear of not being able to do their care ie. bending over, stretching over etc as I m limited in my movements. Getting out of bed is the worst part of the day and any more than about 5 or 6 hours in bed is no good as the longer I m laying down the worse I feel. I cannot remember the last time I woke up actually feeling like I ve had a good nights sleep, it has literally been years. I m sick to death of feeling like this and being constantly told it s all down to my weight! The meds clearly state that one of the main side effects are weight gain, which really doesn t help me!! I just want to wake up one day and not be in pain or constantly knackered ....
