Confusion, Dehydrated, Restlessness With Severe Pain In Left Plank Worsened After Taking Ibuprofen. History Of Being Prone To UTI. Side Effects?
My mother is taking several medications, she is very confused, dehydrated, has severe pain on her left flank. She was just started on ibuprofen and everything seems to be getting worse. She is prone to UTI's. She is very restless which is not the norm for her. Are there adverse reactions to ibuprofen that would cause this? Seriously, I have to pay for the diagnosis?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
Their are chances of having reactions with ibuprofen but the reaction occurs at very large doses about greater then 2 gm i.e 8 pills in a day. If such is a case then definitely you need to addressed it as soon as possible by calling emergency services.
The other chances are it may be a kidney failure where excess of waste in blood may create confusion and other related issues.
I would advice you to have a visit to emergency room as soon as possible since I don't have any other information. It better to be safe then sorry.
Thanks, hope it helps. Dr. JAY PATEL.
