Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
I have gone through your query, and let me start with explaining one thing at a time.
Starting with the infection that you were treated for, if your symptoms have successfully disappeared, then you should be clear of the infection.
Next, the presence of protein in your urine, is not related to the
urinary tract infection (UTI) you had. It is most probably due to some underlying
kidney condition (most probably). Conditions like:
-Damaged or injured kidneys
-Glomerulonephritis
-Hypertension
-Diabetes
and a few other conditions.
All of these conditions can cause changes in blood pressure, which is what your doctor treated you for. But in my opinion, treating the condition would be more beneficial than treating the symptoms.
I would advise a
blood test (to check your renal function) and then an
ultrasound to check on your kidneys (preferably an ultrasound KUB- kidney
ureter and bladder; along with an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis).
These investigations will help guide your doctor towards a certain diagnosis, and from there on he/she can successfully diagnose and treat you. I would also like to add that a 2 week course of anti-hypertensive medications (i.e. to treat BP) makes no sense at all.
Please re-visit a doctor to evaluate the condition of your kidneys and accordingly get treated.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
