Chronic Pain In Ankles And Wrists. Normal Blood Tests, Waiting For X Ray Results. Suggestions?

Hello I am wide awake again with chronic pain in my ankles both of them and my wrists and elbows hurt too. I went for X-rays today and I'm waiting for the results as they are looking into Arthritis for me but my bloods came back fine. All my symptoms point to arthritis but is it normal to wake up in such pain - do you think it could be something else?

Hi and thanks for the query,

Chronic pain in ankles and wrists requires generally the opinion of a rheumatologist. Rhuematpoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, mixed connective tissue disease are common causes of chronic joint pain. Specific blood rheumatologic tests are required. X ray results depending on the specific lesions could help give us a good idea of the possible type of lesion. A good clinical review, blood tests and X ray results are vital in making an appropriate diagnosis.

I suggest you book an appointment with a rheumatologist. Thanks and kind regards.
