Child Suffering With High Fever, Vomiting And Head Ache. Advise Please.
Hi, My son is 6yrs old. On Tues he started with a fever and was sent home from school in the am. By 6p he was full on fevering for the next 18hrs 102-104 degrees. The next evening (wed) he had thrown up one time. Today, he seemed great and then later in the afternoon or early evening complained of a headache. He has been crying and throwing up for the last 2 1/2 hrs now tonight and has a temp of 102. Not sure what I should do....
Thanks for seeking advice on iCliniq. I fully understand your concern for your child. There is a possibility of Malaria, (particularly if you live in a city where prevalence of malaria is high) in view of intermittent fever with headache.
Further, if the child has a stiff neck and/or has had a fit, I will request you that the child should be shown to a Child Specialist to exclude/confirm brain involvement.
Please get the child tested for Malarial antigens/antibodies as well as complete blood count at the earliest. No specific treatment can be advised until I go through the investigation reports. However, as a first-aid, you can safely give Syp Crocin 2 teaspoonful whenever the temperature starts rising.
You are welcome to revert back to me in case of any further clarifications.
