Child Is Fond Of Milk. Drinks Nido Junior, 5-10 Mts Later Will Start With Small Coughs With Sputum. Suggestions?
My daughter is 3 years old and she is fond of milk, especially while we go to sleep. She drinks Nido Junior and 5-10 mts later will start with small coughs that go on with cough with sputum. Then she coughs and throws up everything. After that she is fine and goes off to sleep, say around 5 AM she again wakes up and ask for milk, though not happy to give due to her continuous nagging we give and the result is the same. What could we do? Please advise
It seems that she is experiencing side-effects of DHA in the formula. I will recommend that she takes natural milk (cow's milk) that adults consume instead of formula. Also give her adequate solid food at least one hour before going to bed. Since she is asking for milk at night I am presuming that she is not feeding well during day.
Repeated vomiting is not good for health as it may cause aspiration. Keep her head turned sideways while vomiting to avoid aspiration. Thus if she continues to vomit she may need anti-vomiting medicine like ondansetron before going to bed. The effect of the medicine may last over-night, so repeated dosage may not be required. See a doctor in case of repeated vomiting.
