Child Having Pale And Purple Eyes And Lost Weight. Is It Due To Recurrence Mycoplasma?
Hi, i have a daughter of 9 who two years ago was diagnosed with mycoplasma. This last week she has been off school with lethargy, no appetite but drinking loads. She is also very pale and purple colouring under her eyes, and has lost quite a bit of weight? The doctor thinks it's a virus but i'm a little uncertain of this as she's been ill since last saturday? Am wondering if she has mycoplasma again or poss diabetes ? Kind Regards michelle
Mycoplasma can affect different aspects but the most common infection is pneumonia which would be associated with additional symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, fever.
Diabetes can cause increased urinary output with increased thirst. At the acute presentation children are normally very unwell. If you are concerned re this possibility then you can have her blood sugar checked.
It is possible that it is a viral illness and this can last 7 to 10 days or longer in some persons. You can consider treating her as suggested by her doctor and monitor for any significant changes.
