Child Having No Relief After Taking Pin-x For Pin Worms. How Long Will It Take To Work?

My 4 year old daughter has pinworms. We took her to the pediatrician and gave her pin-x two and a half days ago. She has had zero relief and the females are crawling out every few hours. I understood the pin-x was supposed to paralize them so they could be extricated in her stool. How long does this take to work? She is very uncomfortable and not sleeping. We have continued to take all extra sanitary precautions as well, and treated everyone in the household. Help! :( Should I give it to her again?

Hello there!
Thank you for asking, No worries give the drug some time, Continue all extra precautionary sanitation measures and keep an eye of scratch induced troubles like eczema and bacterial infections.
i want you to tell you clear cut that Successful eradication of pinworm infection requires at least 3 doses of medication, separated by 3 weeks.
you should give 3 doses separated by 3 weeks each and if Pin X is not enough then Albendazole/ ALbenza or mebendazole can be tried.

Good Luck

Thank you for consulting HCM.
It might be that there is some problem with administering the dose or it might be that the dosage requirement is not being fulfilled and she needs a bigger dose. since effect of a medication can differ in individuals. I suggest that you consult your pediatrician and ask about a change in dosage or timing.
regards.
