Child Has Sore Tummy, No Vomiting Or Diarrhea. Growing Pain?
Hi my 3.5 year old daughter Dempsey has been complaining on and off that her tummy is really sore. This has happened a few times now, she doesn t get any vomiting or diaria with it. She does drink a lot of milk but even on the days if she has had a lot of milk I haven t noticed that these are the times when she has these attacks. Could this be growing pains? Any advice as to what I should do? Thanks Nikki.
Hello there,
You have mentioned there has been episodic tummy pains. It is important to know if there are any aggravating or relieving factors ? Does the pain worsen on taking food or does it get relieved ? You have mentioned that there is no vomiting or diarrhea but what about the colour of stools ? Are these dark and tarry or stick to the pan or does she appear pale ? The questions need to be answered to rule out any blood loss. There is possibility that she might be having worms and giving tab albendazole will certainly help. |Children usually complain of vague problems and what she says is tummy pain could possibly be a urinary tract infection as well. If she continues to have pains and is subsequently affecting her appetite, she needs to be shown to her Pediatrician.
Take care.
