Child Has Pain In Rib Cage, Fever. Taken Calpol. What To Do?
Hi my daughter came home from school fine then she started screaming crying with pain pointing to her rib cage left hand side. She was also burning up gave calpol but she couldnt move with pain after about 2 hours pain subsided now it has returned again same as before. Could u please advise me on what to do thank you. Lyndsey
The first thing to do is ask the child for possible injury - fall or hit, while playing. Children forget.
Did you notice anything abnormal - contusion, swelling...?
She must be taken to the doctor. Physical examination, followed by X-ray chest - will in most cases, be able to detect the cause. Till then, calpol is good and safe
