Child Has Lump Near Knee Cap. Not Cyst Or Lymphnode. Tested Positive For Strep. Reason?

My 10 yr old daughter has a pea-sized lump to the left of her knee cap. She had an ultrasound today, and the dr. wasn t sure what it was. It hurts sometimes, mainly when she runs or after the Dr. probed the area. They don t think it s a cyst or a lymph node...she also tested postive for strep titre in her bloodwork, although has no symptoms of strep.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

You have not mentioned the duration of the pea-size lump and whether it is increasing in size ever since you noticed it. These information shall help in my guidance of the case.

If the doctor was not able to give a definite conclusion on the ultrasound then the best course would be to repeat the ultrasound after 2 weeks. If that remains inconclusive then an excisional biopsy may be required.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter all the best.

Regards,

RKK
