Child Has Constipation, Taken Lactitol. Is Medicine Okay?
Hi, I am Kavita from Jaipur. I have a question for my baby, She is one year old as she is suffering from constipation . I had consulted one of our doctor (Child specialist) for this and he advised for Lactitol (5Ml BD) (EMCURE brand) and I have been using this medicine for last two weeks but i couldn t see any satisfactory results. So I am worrying about the medicine if it is ok for my baby even, have been giving various diet options such as Liquid food, vegetable soup, sweets (Kheer), including water. Please advise how can my baby can recover from Constipation and advise any other medicine required. Best regards, Kavita Sharma

It is not desirable to give these medicines for indefinite period. Give some vegetables and whole fruits daily. Do not give too many biscuits. You have not mentioned the duration of the problem. Constipation can be due to some diseases also. If the problem persists get him examined again by your pediatrician.

Dear Mrs Sharma I totally agree with Paeditrician Lactilol is extremely safe and i don't think any other medication is necessary. Just carry on with those diet which you are already giving. I wish your baby to get speedy recovery. Kindest regards Dr. S.K.Mukherjee
