Changed From Similac Spit-up To Parent's Choice, Has Loose Motions With Foul Smell. Should I Change Back ?

I changed my 9 month old from Similac Spit-up to Parent's Choice Advantage. I've always had to put about 1/2 ounce or and ounce of prune juice in his bottle at night to help him have a bowel movement. I changed his formula 3 days ago and, yesterday afternoon, evening, and then this evening, he has had a very loose and foul smelling bowel movement. He had one healthy looking and normal smelling one earlier today. Should I change his formula back. We've also started him on some table foods (light stuff). Could that also be related? Should I maybe just drop the prune juice?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

If your son is having loose motions then prune juice should not be given as it acts as a laxative. In case he get constipated then you can always re-introduce the juice.

9 month is an appropriate age to start with solids for a child. Once you give solids, the chances of giving prune juice will be low.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best.
