Chances Of Survival When In Medically Induced Coma With Kidneys Failing And Less Oxygen Level

My friend has been placed in a medically induced coma, as he has a bad chest infection that has spread to his lungs, he has also been self harming and has very bad wounds that require plastic surgery which are also infected, the toxicology test has also came back with traces of steroids, they are now saying his muscles are breaking up and producing toxins that are causing his kidneys to start failing, what are his chances of survival and how long can they keep him in this coma for before it would start causing irreversible damage, his own oxygen levels in Friday when admitted to hospital were only 3.5%, any information would be gratefully appreciated,
kind regards Claire.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Sorry to say but your friend's situation is very very critical.
He is having very very less chances of survival.
Practically speaking he is having less than 5% chances of survival.
He is having septicemia and related complications like hypoxemia, skin and muscle necrosis, brain damage and renal damage by rhabdomyoglobins (secreted from damaged muscles). All these changes are irreversible and lead to MODS (multi organ dysfunction syndrome) and finally to death.
So your friend is having very very less chances of survival.
