Cause And Cure For Large Tonsils, Fever And Loss Of Appetite

My almost 5 year old has very large tonsils, one is touching her uvula and has large growth - like bumps on it (not white). She has has a moderate fever on and off, headache, sore throat, trouble swollowing, loss of appetite and fatigue for nearly 2 days. Any thoughts? I know she starts with large tonsils but am thinking they may need to come out.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is an inflammation of tonsils. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics preferably amoxiclav.

Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
