Hello, my name is Tom LeKander and I just find the spleen a really interesting organ. The way I understand how this organ works is that the spleen produces red and white blood cells. Now, herte s my question: If I go and accidently cut my finger I know that a message will be sent to the spleen telling it to dispatch a whole bunch of white cells to combat things that will get into that cut on my finger. Exactly how is the spleen told that it needs to dispatch a whole bunch of white cells to that cut on my finger? One other real quick question: You always see these auto accidents and they always say: The accident was so tramatic that his speen had to be removed. Well, the obvious question is- How does the human body produce red and white blood cells needed for the body if it doesn t have a spleen? Thank you

HI my name is Nia and i m 22 year old i recently had a ovarian cyst removed and my left side ovary was also removed with it because it was 15 cm. I had the sugery in Jan/2009 and after that i gained weight. Now my biggest concern is about my brest producing white and milk type of liquid it only comes out if i press on my breast specially the right one and I also have hair growing on my face around my nipple recently i had a hormone blood test done Lactose tolerance test done and an ultrasound for my stomach and both breast. Everything was normal except my lactose tolerance test i found out i am allergic to Dairy products and milk. Because everytime i had a diary product or milk i would have stomach pain and very bad bowl movements. I went to my family doctor a month and a half ago. But i m still getting the white liquid out of my breast and i m really scared. The doctor told me that you might have Swelling on your pitutary gland which is not cancerous but needs to be taken care of but when i got my harmone blood report she said seems like nothing is wrong maybe its the first stage. And since than i can t sleep at night i m always sleeping in the morning i can t get up my eating habbits are very weird i eat sometimes and sometimes even if i m hungry but i don t eat and my weight is not reducing i ve never been this fat in my life i weigh 126 and i was also having these problems before i use to get dizzy and very lazy and i m always very emotional and angry and i try to concentrate on my studies but i feel so lazy that i can t even think. I really don t know what to do i m really scared please tell me what to do please help me i don t wana go through anymore pain which i ve already suffered before.

I am constantly sick and my white blood cell count goes up and down. I dont feel good most of the time. Every titme I get put on antibiotics I start feeling better than I start feeling bad after I have been off of them a while. I have had an infection in my brain and it caused a blood clot about 4 years ago. They gave me some strong antibiotics threw and IV and I felt great a while. Now its on and off antibiotics most off the time and I dont think the ones they are giving me are not strong enough. The drs that took care of me back 4 yrs ago some has retired or moved to a different tand what has happened to me was kind a unreal. I cant get theses drs around here just dont believe what happened to me. I dont know what to do. My body hurts and my hair even hurts and it has started falling out. I need someone to take the time to listen to all my problems because it is compilcated and no one wants to take the time or has the time and I dont know what to do. I was wondering if it could be parasites.

X- RAY REPORT 9-11-2009 Chest Radiograph ( PA View ) Revealed :- Both lung fields show multiple reticulonodular infiltration Giving honey comb appearance with tendency to cystic changes for correlation with clinical data end previous films. Pathology Report Material: C.T. guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of a lung nodule & liver focal lesions. Date of aspiration: 24/11/2009 CLINICAL PICTURE: C.T. guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of a lung nodule & liver focal lesion smeared over eight slides. MICROSCOPY: Cellular lung smears formed of many groups of epitheloid cells having large nuclei and abundant esinphilic cytoplasm. Many groups of hyperplastic bronchial cells exhibiting mild-moderate atypia were detected. The background was infiltrated with chronic inflammatory ceels mainly lymphocytes with moderate number of uniuncleated histiocytes. Few multinucleated giant cells were observed. The liver aspirate showed many groups of liver cells having bland cntral nuclei over background having infiltrated with lymphocytes. DIAGNOSIS: LUNG NODULE & LIVER FOCAL LESION: C.T. guided Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) Lymphoroliferative disorder suggestive for granulomatous inflammation for immunophenotyping confirmation. PATHOLOGY REPORT Microscopic: Examination of the films received many red cells, many scattered small, intermediate and large lymphoid cells with very few polmonuclear leucocytes. Diagnosis: Lung nodule and liver focal lesions, FINDING ARE IN FAVOUR OF MALIGNANT LYMPHOMA. -CASE FOR TISSUE BIOPSY FOR IMMUNOPHENOTYPING. PATHOLOGY REPORT GROSS: - Referred 8 FNAC smear slides, labeled by patient s name. four of the slides are labeled for site as liver and the other 4 as lung. All slides are examined and re-enclosed. - Three of the slides are de-stained after routine examination, then immunostained for LCA. CK & NSE. MICROSCOPY: - Liver and lung FNAC smears show blood and scattered groups of small, medium and large round cells. The FNAC smears also rich in neutrophils. - The immunostained smears show negative staining for CK & NSE and positive staining for LCA. Conclusion: Cytology slides ; re-staining for immunophenotyping: FINDINGS ARE CONSISTENT WITH NON-HODGKIN S LYMPHOMA ; MIXED SMALL AND LARGE CELL. PATHOLOGY REPORT One of the referred FNAC smear slides is de-stained after routine Examination, then immunostained for CD 20 as requested MICROSCOPY The immunostained smear shows a majority of CD 20 â??megative cells and few â?? likely reactive- positively stained small lymphocytes. CONCLUSION: Cytology slides ; restining for CD 20 Most cells are CD 20 negative. Scattered positive (likely reactive) small lymphocytes. Complete Blood Count Ref.
