Can Thyroid Issue Cause Headache?

Can your thyroid make your head hurt? My neck around my thyroid hurts and when that happens, it makes my head hurt so bad it makes me vomit. I continue to get ill throughout the day or night until I just cannot get ill any more, there's nothing left. Then the headache usually dissipates. Why does this happen?

Hi dear user
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

The major cause of pain in the thyroid is subacute thyroiditis.Thyroiditis refers to the inflammation of the thyroid.Individuals with this condition will also have symptoms of hyperthyroidism and later develop symptoms of hypothyroidism.Headache is a simptom of hypothyroidism.

In my opinion the inflammation of your thyroid gland can be the cause of your symptoms.

I suggets to consult an endocrinologist in your area because you need to do the thyroid tests(TSH,free T3 and free T4)to see the thyroid function and a thyroid ultrasound to see the thyroid structure. Other necessary tests for the diagnose are ERS,CRP,Serum thyroglobulin(TG) and antithyroperoxidase antibody(anti-TPO antibody).
After the test results your doctor will be able to reach your exact diagnose and to give the right treatement.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to .
Wish you good health.
