Can Smoking Cause Pot Belly And Burning Sensation In Ribs?
Hi Doctor.. I feel my stomach has been weakening over some time now.. My pot belly is showing, though i do not over eat. Presently It does not get clear in one go and there is a Burning sensation below my lower ribs after i take the first meal of the day. I ve been a smoker for more than a decade now. Can that be the reason?
not very related to smoking. without seeing you I cannot comment on your particular situation, BUT, I can say that some common conditions are weakening of muscular walls and the gut popping through them. This can happen with the external wall of the abdomen (and bulges are fairly easily demonstrated). The gut can also bulge INSIDE. the stomach can pop up through the diaphram into the chest (HIATAL HERNIA). Neither of these makes a pot belly .. especially not the hiatal hernia. But either of these would cause abdominal pain related to eating.
