Hello,Pioglitazone can cause fluid retention and peripheral edema. As a result, it may precipitate congestive heart failure too in some individuals. If someone is intolerant to pioglitazone than it can be replaced by other hypoglycaemic like metformin which have added benefit of weight loss in obese patients.
