Can Methotrexate Sub-q Cause Shaking And Violent Chills?
I take methotrexate sub-q for lupus/arthritis treatment and have suddenly developed a side effect: 1 hour after the injection I start shaking uncontrollably and violently with chills. its sudden and I can t stop for 20 min usually. It takes me a long time to warm up.

I appreciate your concern towards the reaction produced by subcutaneous methotrexate.
Methotrexate when administered by subcutaneous or intravenous route is known to cause some immediate reactions in the form of rigors (shaking), chills, joint pains and fever.
The mechanism behind this reaction appears to be due to rapid administration of the drug.
So, it can be minimized by slow administration and prior use of some drugs like Levocetrizine to prevent this harmless reaction if needed.
