Can Intake Of Rifampicin During Pregnancy Cause Abortion?
my wife was pregnant 3 months ago...due to her brocilosis the doctor wrote her some medicine with rephampicin... maybe when she was in 2nd month of her pregnancy...then after tests and ultrasound the doctor said she is going to abort...and she did...now my wife has still brocilosis and the doctor once again advised her rephampicin+doxycyclin+folic acid and said that she should not has entercourse upto 6 weeks...and not to be pregnant until the brocilosis is in your blood... is the death of the foetus due to the rephampicin?
Indeed, the medications used to treat her brucellosis including Rifampin and Doxycyclin during pregnancy puts at high risk for causing death of foetus. To ensure a healthy pregnancy, we recommend not to get pregnant until your system is cleared of these drugs and the disease itself. However, do not torture yourself, if there is a prolapse of brucellosis, it is clear it puts your wife at high risk pregnancy. So, try to follow her doctor's advice, and take medications regularly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
