Thank you for asking on HealthcareMagic.com, providing better health care for you! I have gone through your case and I can understand your concern. Treatment for peptic ulcers is often successful, leading to ulcer healing, but it requires usually 6-8 weeks treatment. Nexium (Esomeprazole) is drug of choice for treating peptic ulcers (in your case ulcer is localised in esophagus and it is due to acid reflux). Peptic ulcers that don't heal with treatment are called refractory ulcers. But if your symptoms are severe or if they continue despite treatment, your doctor may recommend endoscopy to rule out other possible causes for your symptoms. There are many reasons why an ulcer may fail to heal: not taking medications according to directions, regular use of tobacco, regular use of pain relievers that increase the risk of ulcers etc. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions. Wishing you good health.
