Can I Take Cerazette In Uterine Fibroids?

If I have uterine fibroids can i take cerazette?
I am 46. I have been diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids and been advised to have a hysterectomy which I don't want to have right now. My only symptoms are heavy bleeding. I currently take amlodipine 5mg for high blood pressure, tranexemic acid and mefenamic acid for the bleeding.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As Cerazette is Progesterone only pill. As study says, oral contraceptives containing both estrogen and Progesterone causes increase in fibroid size.

So, I think you should consult with gynecologist. I will suggest you to avoid Cerazette as contraceptive and use alternative method of contraception.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
