Can Holding Urine For Long Duration Cause Testicle Pain?

Hello doctor when I have been holding my urine for a long time for example when I have been in bed an I go in the morning as I don't want to get out of bed in the night so for 4-5 hours sometimes. I have started to notice my left testicle aches an is sore like I have knocked it. Is this something I should worry about because after I have urinated this is when the pain starts an lasts from 20 minutes to over an hour sometimes an I am a little bit concerned. Any help with this matter would be great as I am a tad embarrassed to go to my GP about this issue.

Many thanks Richard

Dear Richard,
Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.

I can understand your concerns about the testicular pain which occurs on micturition. I will try my best to answer your question and guide you through it.

You are suffering from strangury, which can be because of renal calculi. This senstation of pain in testicles is a referred pain from a calculi. However it has got nothing to do with the holding of urine in sleep. I would reassure you that holding urine in sleep does not lead to strangury.

I would suggest you to do a urine examination and USG-KUB to rule out a stone and UTI.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
