Can Herpes Cause Blindness And Deafness?

My mother is suffering from herpes zoster. We approached Dr. M. Prasad as he was the nearest doctor to our house. He treated my mother with 5 days injection as well as medicine course. But she still has pain in her face on the left side. We would like you to examine her situation as we came to know that herpes can cause blindness and deafness. For that, we would like to see you buy we do not know where your clinic is.

Hi,

Herpes zoster is a viral infection occurring anywhere on the body on one side and does not relapse unless the patient is immunocompromised. If it occurs on face and involves the nerve supplying ear may cause deafness. If the lesions occur in the eye, corneal opacity may occur leading to blindness.

It is a serious condition. If not treated properly may be followed by complication called postherpetic neuralgia which remains for a long time causing severe unbearable pain. So, immediately consult the nearby dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel,
