Can Cervical Spondylosis Cause Headache And Nausea?

Hi...My mother is 59 years old and she is suffering from cervical spondylosis as the doctor has diagnosed through MRI Scan. Alongwith the pain in the neck, she is suffering from severe headache which is not allowing her to sleep at nights also. Recently she started having vomitting sensations also. Is it also because of her spondylosis problem that she is having those sensations. Inspite of medicines for vomitting she is not having relief. Kindly advise.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your mother's symptoms.

Cervical spondylosis is not the cause of your mother's new symptoms of headache and vomiting. Cervical spondylosis commonly causes neck pain and arm pain, and restricted neck movements.

Her headache and vomiting are most probably related to migraine.

There are good medications to treat migraine. For relief of headache, she can take rizatriptan or sumatriptan tablets.

Flunarizine can be given to prevent recurrence of headaches.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
