From the last 15days her legs are getting swollen and from a recent check up the doctor says that it maybe due to unbalanced sugar level in the body which is causing kidney problem. The tests are yet to be done. Can you please give any suggestions for controlling the swelling.thank you

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir I can understand your concern
in my opinion there will be some kidney damage in long term uncontrolled diabetes
the kidney is major organ which maintainers water balance in body
in case of kidney damage there will be accumulation of water in dependent parts of body this is called as pedal edema
to rule out this condition we need to go for renal function test which includes serum creatinine ,blood urea,GFR and protein excreation
in some conditions of cardiac origins also there is a chance for pedal edema.
I suggest you to do the test to proceed for further discussion
