Can Medications For High BP And Blood Sugar Cause Swelling In Lower Part Of Legs?
I am suffering from High BP and high blood sugar. I am taking prolomet AM 50 and Olsar H 40. Sugar level is controlled by diet and walking no medicine is being taken. Recently I m suffering from swelling in lower part of legs. I would like to know is it due to any of above medicine or do I have to take additional medication to control this. I also got my kidney function test and it was found normal.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem of leg edema can be due to side effect of anti hypertensive drug Amlodipine. It is a content of prolomet am. In such case changing to another drug or decreasing the dosage of it will be helpful. Also you should do urea and creatinine level tests to rule out kidney problems which can be a cause also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
