Can Any Exercise Routine Or Gym Help For Cervical Spondylitis And Mild Osteoarthritis ?
Hello Doc i was diganosed with neck spasms but the pain was irritating so went for an MRI and diganosed with cervical spondylitis recently, i work so wear the collar and do a couple of neck exercises and avoid much pain killers as possible. ? Secondly I have mild osteoarthritis on my left knee.
Please advie if can start my exercis routine in the gym, doing my mat exercises or should i wait??? and how long or should I only go for normal outdoor walks??
If you have been diagnosed with necks spasms with irritating pain, I highly suggest to get the pain relieved first, then, can go for your daily activities.
I suggest to: - apply warm clothing to the neck area - apply local analgesic - take oral painkiller for up to 5 days.
I usually prescribe i.m. injection of painkiller and myorelaxants for 3 to 5 days depending on the clinical symptoms of my patients as following: - sol.diclophenac or meloxicam - sol.thiocolchicoside
When improved, you can go for your normal daily activities. I would also suggest to take anti-inflammatory therapy for at least 1 month (e.g. baby aspirin if no contraindication).
All the best! Dr.Albana
