Can Methotrexate Cause Weakness Of Upper Body And Severe Dizziness?

awoke with no strength in upper body and severe dizziness - could not get out of bed so slithered onto the floor and crawled on all fours to a phone - raising or lowering my head caused the dizziness - admitted to ER yesterday - EKG, blood, urine, blood pressure, and CT scan were all normal - primary doctor today said it could be a rare allergic reaction to methotrexate which I have been taking for severe eczema since February 2014 -

Hello
As you mentioned that you were taking methotraxate for February 2014 i.e. almost you are taking this drug for eczema for 10 months .
No doubt this drug sometimes causes anaphylaxis , but also produces bone marrow depression ( this may be the cause of severe dizziness ).
As you mentioned that EKG, blood , urine , blood pressure and C T scan , all are normal ,so such symptoms may be due to these possibilities ,these include.
1 Hypotension , as I have noted that whenever some patient wake up in the morning suddenly blood pressure falls and there develop dizziness .
But after sometimes patient recover and blood pressure elevated and reached at normal level , so this may be in your case.
2 Hyper acidity may be the another reason . Methotraxate also causes hyper acidity , so be careful about that also .
Because in hyper acidity , doctor will not find any abnormality in routine examination.
3 Tension or anxiety may be the another reason of such symptoms.
4 While sever allergic reaction may be the cause of such symptoms .
In my opinion , consult a doctor and get blood pressure for three consecutive days.
However, there are so many other reasons , like Minere's disease , but consult a physician and get his opinion.
I find this answer helpful
