Can I Acquire STD With Non-penetrative Sexual Contact?

Hi doctor, I gave a man a handjob and washed my hands thoroughly a few minutes afterwards, but I noticed I had an open wound on my hand. It was an old wound that I had picked the scab off much earlier in the day, so it was not actively bleeding. What are my odds of getting HIV/any STD in this way? I did not perform oral, although I did kiss around his lower region. I tried to be very conscious to make sure I did not get any semen in my mouth. Do you think I need to be very concerned about my risk level in this situation? He said he was clean but I don't know him that well...

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

An Old Healed Wound is not a risk factor for HIV or any other STD. As far as HIV is concerned, a wound that is fresh and actively bleeding would have been a concern but never an old healed wound. The wound has to be fresh and actively bleeding for HIV virus to gain access into your blood stream.
As far as other STD's are concerned, it is very unlikely because there was never a direct contact between your oral mucosa and genital mucosa of your sexual partner.
Kissing would never get you an STD.
So, you can assume yourself to be safe from this particular sexual encounter.
