Can ECT Treatment For Depression Reduce The Efficiency Of Narco Drugs For Sciatica Pain?

Hi, I am undergoing ECT for depression. I believe the depression is caused by my chronic pain problem. Anyway, I have done 6 treatments, and now my Norco doesn't work for my sciatica pain any more. I think that the ECT messed something up in my neurons, and now they don't recognize the Norco. What should I do? This is the only conclusion I can come to, is this possible?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. ECT is electro convulsive therapy and the therapy is one of mainstay of treatment in severe resistant depression. The therapy is safe procedure and is not associated with any serious consequences. It is not known to reduce the effectiveness of pain medicines so I dont think the ECT is the reason for poor effectiveness of norco in your case. Norco consists of opioid analgesics and with regular use the drug is known to cause dependence and tolerance. So the development of tolerance could be the reason of poor effectiveness of drug. Concomitant use of drugs like Pregabalin or Gabapentin can help to reduce these symptoms. Please visit a doctor for help.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
