Can Antacids Help With Vomiting Caused Due To Reflux Esophagitis?
Hi,My mother is suffering from reflux esophagitis. She vomits as soon as she eats anything. What course of treatment do u recommend for her and is this condition treatable or can it be totally controlled by antacid medications?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) is treatable with dietary modifications with antacid use. Avoid spicy food and caffeinated drinks, avoid painkiller medication. Eat a small number of meals with increased frequency.
Elevate the head end during sleeping, do not sleep immediately after dinner. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved, please consult your gastroenterologist so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
