Burning, Stabbing Pain In Groin After Knee Replacement, CAT Scan Normal, Undergone Double Hernia Surgery. Reason?
I have had severe pain on & off in my lower right groin area. I can best describe as a burning, pinching, stabbing pain. It started after doing excess exercise post op right knee replacement. It seems to be gone in the AM when I get up but it starts in as soon as I do things. I did have a double hernia surgery in the late 1990s. I was also wondering if it could be a groin pull. The Cat Scan was negative but my dr. advised that it doesn't always show on
the Cat Scan. My Orthopedic feels the groin pain is from the hip related to the knee surgery.
Based on your symptomatology, I suspect two possibilities in you -
* Over use injury -resulting from unaccustomed and over vigorous exercises leading to a muscular strain in the upper thigh
* Hip joint arthritis - may also present as sharp, stabbing pain in the groin and front of thigh. An xray of the hip joint & MRI scan will rule out hip joint pathology.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
